State Senator Howard Stephenson and State Board of Education Member Brittney Cummins talk with DeLaina Tonks, Director of Mountain Heights Academy, an online charter school (www.mountainheightsacademy.org). Tonks discussed the benefit on online instruction. Tonks also explains the mission of Mountain Heights Academy as well as the successes and challenges for charter schools across Utah. Cummins identifies how some charter schools target certain student populations. Stephenson, the godfather of Utah’s charter school legislation 22 years ago, explains how charter schools now serve 11% of students.
