State Senator Howard Stephenson and State Board of Education Member Brittney Cummins talk with State Representative Brad Last about proposals for increasing education funding this upcoming legislative session. Last discusses the challenges of educating refugees, medically-fragile, and other at-risk students, as well as the costs associated with educating those students.

Stephenson and Cummins then talk with State Senator Lincoln Fillmore about his $744 million proposal to equalize school funding across the state over the next 10 years.

Stephenson and Cummins also talk with former Speaker of the House Nolan Karras about his thoughts on these education funding proposals, particularly in respect to the Our Schools Now initiative. Karras discuss the limitations and constraints of the initiative process. Karras also discuss the recently-released strategic roadmap from Utah’s Excellence in Education Commission.
